Creating Jules Jedi

As many of you should know, Jules is me. This was stated in the 3rd comic but, is not entirely true. He is the image of me. He is also an important character in my comic.

I created Jules more than a year before I created Ikky; maybe it was even earlier, I’m not quite sure. All I know for sure is that I created him before I knew what D&D was.

At the time, my older brother had recently designed a caricature for himself and had a cool nickname to go along with it. I was so inspired that I decided to create a character for myself but, my initial attempts were disappointing. This discouraged me resulting in my abandoning the idea.

When I grew my Jedi braid is when I started drawing Jules (about one year later). He mostly came out in the form of quick doodles drawn in my high school planner but, occasionally, I drew him in a reasonable good sketch.

The name “Jules” only occurred to me during the creation of the comic. I’ve had a lot of nicknames in my life; Julie, Sparky, Jay the French Fry Kid and, after I grew my braid; Anakin, Obi Wan, and Luke for some reason but, no one ever called me “Jules”. I must have heard it from some other source.
